Using GPS Tracking to measure the temperature of refrigerated trucks and vans

Problem

Safeguarding the timely delivery of refrigerated goods is very important. If you need to transport food, punctual delivery and keeping to the schedule is very important.

Too high temperatures could spoil the goods or affect the quality, especially for food distribution. Frozen goods transporters need to provide a full documentation about the right level of temperature. Keeping these notes is time-consuming, but necessary for quality assurance.

Technology

With the help of GPS Tracking devices we can show the current location of your food delivery vans. The tracking devices are connected to industrial standard temperature sensors. The sensors are made exactly to fit with the gps tracking devices.

The technology is proven for application inside trucks and works on 24 volt DC. It is very important to have it installed by skilled workforce in order not to damage the data cables. 

Solution

The GPS Fleet Software saves all past positions together with speed and temperature values. This can be used for reporting, documentation and quality assurance. The available reports show average values and can be analyzed with graphs.

The customer can define lowest and highest temperature levels in the GPS Fleet Software. If the temperature of a vehicle exceeds the range for a minimum time, this can trigger an alert. This solution makes it easier to react faster and monitor the quality of goods and the excellence of service within shortest time.

The temperature will be shown as a line and is stored in the historic data. It can be reviewed with temperature reports. Finally, you can set temperature alerts as a warning if the temperature exceeds a limit.

Tracking the GPS position and temperature in almost real-time is a huge advantage in comparison to passive temperature loggers. While temperature loggers only tell you what happened in the past (when the damage already occured), the real-time gps tracking alerts will help to avoid damage or to find weaknesses in the delivery chain.
